LCLAA NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP CONVENTION IN ORLANDO, FL

Dear LCLAA Members and Friends / National Membership Convention Call

milton rosadoOn behalf of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) I am pleased to extend an invitation for you to attend our 21st National Membership Convention to be held in Orlando, Florida at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort from August 18th – 20th, 2016. This premiere convention will not only highlight the valuable work that LCLAA is doing, but it will also serve as the main platform for Latino labor leaders to organize around the issues that Latino working families are facing in the upcoming election cycle. This event will create the space for LCLAA members to engage in trainings that will be of great value to the ground work that LCLAA will be doing to advance the agenda of Latino working families. Our discussion this year will revolve around key priorities requiring greater public awareness, civic participation, and strategies for advancing an agenda for shared prosperity.

LCLAA’s strength lies not only in our work nationally, but also in the advocacy work that our chapters do across the country. Increasing our grassroots organizing capacity and engaging our members to take action in their communities is one of our most important priorities. Now more than ever, the Labor movement needs to grow and increase its appeal to young workers and LCLAA has a vital role to play in this growth. Latinos represent the youngest members of the U.S. workforce and are quickly becoming a key to the future of the Labor Movement.

We hope to count on your participation at our National Convention. I encourage you to fully engage in our workshop and trainings with the goal of taking valuable information back home so you can better inform your community about how Latinos and labor can work together to create progressive policy for working families. 2016 will prove challenging not only because it is an important election year, but because so much of the critical work that needed to be done on behalf of Latino working families remains unfinished.

I hope that as we move forward with our National Convention, you will also take the time to enjoy the World of Disney. Even though we will be discussing matters of great importance to our community and to the labor movement, it does not mean that we cannot also have some old-fashioned family fun.

In Solidarity,

  • LCLAA’s conventions are terrific events. It brings our local and national labor leaders, community activists and our labor and community friendly politicians, together. To have everyone together at the same location is tremendous. These type of events would never happen if it’s not for LCLAA, who continues to command the attention and respect wherever it goes. The ability to network can and should not be overlooked.
