WASHINGTON – The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement emphatically rejects the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the highest court of the land. Throughout the past weeks the American public has learned about  Kavanaugh’s record, through several very courageous women who have put themselves in the line of fire thus revealing disturbing accounts involving Justice Kavanaugh.

Despite all that was uncovered, today this man is sitting on the bench, and his presence there will have a pernicious impact on our nation. His confirmation represents a dangerous move for our country’s democracy. Kavanaugh’s role in the Supreme Court will lead to more frequent and blatant attacks on immigrants and Latino workers as well as civil and voting rights. His conservative agenda will also seek to reverse healthcare protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Women’s reproductive issues, LGBTQ rights are also on the line; all of these are rulings that will unquestionably set us back to the 19th century.

This confirmation is an insult to women, and an offense to Latino workers and immigrants. Judge Kavanaugh represents a threat to labor rights and civil rights. said Yanira Merino National President LCLAA. Now more than ever, we must all stand together and safeguard our democracy, we have to learn about our rights, and be conscient about our civic responsibility.

There is no doubt that this is pivotal time in our nation’s history. But as our Constitution reads, WE THE PEOPLE will not allow our rights to be taken away.Said Hector Sanchez Barba Executive Director LCLAA.Our message today goes all the way to the Supreme Court, and it is loud! We will organize, mobilize, resist, and we will ultimately stand together in defence of all Latino workers and immigrants, and their inalienable rights!”
