LClaa celebrates black history month, honoring labor rights, leaders, activist, and afro latino contributions

Washington DC- In the spirit of unity and advocacy for equitable workplaces, The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) celebrates Black History Month. Rooted in the shared commitment to educate, organize, and mobilize diverse communities, we honor the contributions of African Americans to the labor and civil rights movements.

This month, we pay tribute to the often overlooked role of Afro-Latinos in shaping American culture and their efforts in pushing our communities towards prosperity. It's imperative that we acknowledge the intersectionality of our communities, understanding that the struggle against discrimination and inequality is one that unites us. Afro-Latinos and African Americans, share commonality in navigating barriers that impede both personal and professional growth and equal opportunities. In solidarity with the Afro-Latino and Black community, we acknowledge shared challenges in the workplace, committing to dismantling systemic racism and cultivating an inclusive, thriving, and equal workplace.

This month, let us collectively amplify the voices of Afro-Latino and African American trailblazers, commemorating how they shaped the labor and civil rights movement, we enrich our understanding of the diverse contributions that have provided avenues for our communities to voice their needs and demand equal rights. By honoring the pivotal role of Afro-Latinos and African Americans in shaping the nation, we reinforce our commitment in working towards equity, inclusivity, and justice for all workers in cross labor sectors.
