LCLAA Begins its 24th National Membership Convention

Washington, DC - The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) is delighted to hold our 24th National Membership Convention themed, “Together Towards Tomorrow: Trabajadores Para un Futuro Justo.” Our convention will take place at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico from August 2nd to August 5th.

Throughout this week, attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear remarks from distinguished speakers, including Clayola Brown of the A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI); Evelyn DeJesus, Executive Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT); Terry Melvin, Chair of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU); Yanira Merino, National President of LCLAA; Randi Weingarten, National President of AFT; James Williams, General President of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT); and Fred Redmond, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, among other prominent global labor leaders from Puerto Rico, Honduras, and Brazil.

Our members and allies will engage in a variety of opportunities to engage locally by supporting service projects identified throughout the island, connecting labor power to community engagement. At the conclusion of this week, we will elect new leaderships that will guide our organization as we continue to push for the advancement of Latinos.

LCLAA is thrilled to have an opportunity where dedicated members and allies can come together to collaborate, strategize, and propel our industries towards progress. Together, we look forward to fostering solidarity, empowering workers, and building a more just and equitable future for all.
