Promoting Latino civic participation

Promoting Latino Civic Participation

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,

It is important to address very concerning issue that would affects all workers, especially our Latino community. Project 2025, a conservative document that proposes actions to the elimination of unions, threatening all the hard-earned achievements of the Labor Movement.

Unions have been essential in securing better wages, fair working conditions, and benefits such as health insurance and family leave.

Eliminating unions would mean losing these rights, disproportionately affecting Latino and immigrant families. Many of us have come to this country in search of a better life, and unions have been a crucial tool in that struggle.

Moreover, this project has even more alarming implications for our families. The proposal could lead to the separation of mixed-status families, leaving US citizen children vulnerable and without the protection of their parents. We cannot allow our families to be divided and our children to grow up in an environment of insecurity and instability.

It is crucial that we stand united and raise our voices against Project 2025. We must fight to protect our labor rights and ensure a dignified future for our families. Now more than ever, it's time to show solidarity and work together to defend the rights we have fought so hard to achieve.

Together, we are strong!

In Solidarity,

Evelyn DeJesus

LCLAA National President
