Two weeks ago, Texas Governor Greg Abbott directed charter buses to voluntarily transport undocumented migrants from the border to our nation’s capital. On April 13, the first bus of migrants arrived in the District of Columbia, and they have continued to arrive on an ongoing basis. Many of these migrants are hoping to reunite with their families and communities in the country but have limited resources upon arrival.
For those of us who are located in the DMV area, it is important that we show and give our support as they navigate their way. The LCLAA DC Metro Chapter, National LCLAA, and other local partners have joined efforts and will be providing essential kits to those arriving each day. The kits contain a gift card, face masks, hand sanitizer, toiletries, water and sports drinks, snacks, blankets and more. We will greet them and provide them with resources and information to help them reach their destination. We are looking for donations to support our efforts to aid these migrants. We understand that funds may be limited for you and times are tough. For that reason, we ask that you donate within your means - whether that be $1, $10 or $100. Any donation, of any size, will help give these migrants a better chance of reuniting with their families and finding a new home in our country. Click here to make a donation.
