Dear LCLAA Members and Allies,
This summer has been nicknamed by many as “strike summer” for good reason. We have seen our brothers and sisters across entertainment, publishing, hospitality, education, and several other industries take action to advocate for the pay and working conditions they deserve.
As the clock strikes midnight tonight the union contracts for 150,000 UAW auto workers at Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis will expire. The Big Three have raked in a combined $21 billion in profits, yet, they have refused to provide their workers – the very individuals responsible for these profits – with decent standards of living, wages that grow with inflation, or job security. And now, UAW workers are preparing to strike.
As many of you may know, no worker and no union wants to resort to striking. It is an enormous request to ask your workers to risk their livelihoods and job security. However, when employers cannot meet at the table and ensure that their workers are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve, action must be taken to secure a fair contract.
In solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the auto industry, I urge you all to lend your support by signing this petition, learning more about the strike, and staying informed with the UAW’s developments. As things progress, LCLAA will continue to share how our members can show their support to stand up for the working class, future generations, and economic and social justice.
In solidarity,
Evelyn DeJesus
National President of LCLAA
