Celebrating all hardworking mothers

Celebrating All Hardworking Mothers

Querida Madres Trabajadoras,

On this Mother’s Day we pay tribute to you, to all hardworking mothers, to your unwavering strength, boundless love, and immeasurable sacrifices. As we celebrate this special day en familia, let us not forget your invaluable contributions to both the workforce and the Labor Movement.

Day in and day out, nuestras madres navigate the balance between professional responsibilities, activism, and your most important role as a loving caregiver at home, your dedication, resilience, and endless support form the very foundation of our society and our Labor Movement.

We pay tribute to the countless Immigrant Mothers, specially to those mothers who can’t hug and be with their children to celebrate this day. Madres queridas, you’ve worked harder to provide and ensure a better future for your children.

Your sacrifices, triumphs, and unwavering dedication to our families and communities embody the true spirit of resilience. Immigrant Mothers, you are the unsung heroes, the silent champions, and the guiding lights in our journey towards progress and equality.

Behind every successful movement for workers' rights, there lies the quiet but steadfast determination of countless mothers who have fought tirelessly for fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal opportunities. Your sacrifices have paved the way for progress and inspired generations to come.

Thank you for all that you do, today and every day. Happy Mother's Day!

In Solidarity,

May Day

Around the country, union members, workers, union organizations and LCLAA members joined May Day, International Workers Day, 1. de Mayo, Día de los Trabajadores. On this day we reaffirmed our commitment to continue advocating, fighting, and working with our communities for fair wages, workers rights, and inclusion.

Additionally, LCLAA Chapters from Los Angeles, Greater Boston, DC Metro Area, Pittsburg, Chicago, Milwaukee, and other cities shared how they celebrate this day in which we honor all workers who funded the Labor Movement.

"Your fight is my fight, Declare May Day marches", Pittsburg Union Progress.

Jessica Ríos Viner led a group of about 350 noisy marchers down Forbes Avenue, Downtown, after rush hour on Wednesday night. This caught the attention of a blue-suited businessman hustling toward Market Square. He turned to look, then did a double take.

Viner, president of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, thrust a giant cardboard fist into the air and used a megaphone to lead a chant: “Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcome here.”
