latina equal pay day

Latina Equal Pay

Queridas hermanas y hermanos,

The wage gap isn’t just a statistic—it directly affects the quality of life for Latino families and our loved ones. For too many familias latinas, especially those where a woman is the head of the household, unequal pay means struggling to afford necessities like housing, healthcare, and education for our children.

Latinas are one of the fastest-growing, most powerful groups in the United States. Latinas excel in every sector and industry in our country. Despite all of this, on October 3rd, we will highlight the fact that in 2023, Latinas continued to face the pay gap that is, on average, an abysmal 51 cents to every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men.

This wage gap holds our entire community back and widens the gap of opportunities for future generations. The fight for equal pay is a fight for justice, dignity, and the future of our families.

The fight for equality doesn’t end in the workplace—it extends to the ballot box. We must participate in this upcoming presidential election and vote for candidates who stand with us, who fight for fair wages, and fair working conditions, and who respect our values.

Our vote is our voice, and we must use it to ensure that those in power are working for us, not against us.

Let’s fight for equality! Stand with us as we demand equal pay for Latina workers, defend all women’s rights, and ensure that our hard work is recognized and rewarded.

¡Adelante hermanas! The time is now—let's fight for the respect, pay, and the dignity we deserve, and let’s vote for a better future!

In Solidarity,

Evelyn DeJesus
