Let's Stand Together Against Discrimination
Querida familia LCLAA,
During the first week of President Trump's second administration, hundreds of Executive Orders were issued, marking a time of fear and uncertainty for our communities. We have also seen serious setbacks that have impacted the equity and recognition of diversity achieved in the last decade.
Under the guise of “protecting women," the presidential action titled "Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government" is allowing the administration to eliminate the recognition of gender identity in federal policies, imposing a rigid and outdated definition of sex across government institutions.
By enforcing this Executive Order, the federal government will:
-
Deny legal recognition of transgender individuals, by requiring all government-issued documents to reflect only “biological sex”.
-
Strip protection from trans individuals in federal prisons by eliminating access to gender-affirming healthcare and housing that aligns with their identity.
-
Target schools that support transgender students, punishing institutions that allow students to use restrooms, sports teams, or pronouns that match their identity.
This is not about protecting women, it’s about restricting rights, and gender identity policies, and erasing transgender people from existence. We cannot allow this rollback of hard-fought protections to go unchallenged. True equality means standing up for all women, including transwomen, and ensuring that LGBTQ+ individuals have the right to live with dignity and respect.
Now, more than ever, we must speak out, organize, and take action. LCLAA urges you to spread awareness and advocate for policies that protect all individuals, regardless of gender. Together, we can resist discrimination and continue the fight for justice.
In Solidarity,
Evelyn DeJesus,
LCLAA National President.
