Coming Out and Showing Up Against Hate

Dear LCLAA Members and Allies,

We want to take a moment to recognize the importance of National Coming Out Day, October 11th, and its significance in our ongoing struggle for equality, social justice, and better working conditions for all. As a Latino labor organization, we believe it is our collective responsibility to stand up against discrimination and support all marginalized communities, including our LGBTQ+ members and workers.

National Coming Out Day is a day of courage, visibility, and unity within the LGBTQ+ community. It serves as a reminder of the daily battles faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, who, like us, strive for equality, respect, and the right to work and live without fear of discrimination. It is imperative that we, as a labor organization committed to justice, recognize and embrace this day with solidarity and action. Being your authentic self at work is not just a privilege; it’s a right. Our movement still has progress to make as many LGBTQ+ individuals do not reveal their sexual identity at work in fear of discrimination or judgment.

Join us in celebrating National Coming Out Day by showing your support and solidarity for our LGBTQ+ members. Let’s make it clear that we stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight for dignity, respect, and equality for every worker.

In solidarity,
