Dear LCLAA Members and Allies,
Workers’ Memorial Day is an important day for our movement. It is a day dedicated to remembering and honoring the workers who have lost their lives while on the job. It is a reminder of the ongoing need for safe and healthy workplaces and the importance of protecting the rights of workers.
On this day, let us remember those who have died or been injured on the job and reflect on the importance of workplace safety. Let us also renew our commitment to fight for better working conditions, better wages, and better protection for all workers.
In observance of Workers Memorial Day, we encourage you to take a moment of silence, light a candle, or attend a vigil held by your union or your local LCLAA chapter. We also encourage you to reach out to your local and national representatives to advocate for improved workplace safety and protections for workers. In this vein, we urge you all to garner support for the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act. By protecting workers from retaliation, this vital bill will allow workers nationwide to raise health and safety concerns in the workplace.
Together, we can honor the memory of our fallen workers and work towards a safer and healthier future for all workers. Thank you for your commitment to our shared goals.
In solidarity,
Yanira Merino
National President of LCLAA
